You can submit your interviews as an audio recording, a video or a written article. Examples of all three are on our site.
Winners will be chosen based on the quality of the questions you prepare for the interview and the rapport you establish with the Mentor.
YPNG will post all the interviews that follow our guidelines on the YPNG site and will include your name and your high school in the credits.
It Is Easy to Record Your Own Mentor Interview!
You don't need any special equipment. The voice memo program on an iPhone or Android allows you to record and then e-mail the recording to us. These phones work well as long as you record in a place where there is little background noise and were used to record the Podcasts posted on the site. We will edit your recording to enhance the sound and put it in a Podcast format. You can also do your recording on a laptop using a program like garage band, do a video or submit your interview as a written article. We have examples of all three on the site.
Doing a YPNG Mentor Interview is a good experience that will give you the opportunity to meet successful people. They want to help young people like you succeed and will make appointments to talk to you if you show them you are prepared.
Here is what to say when you call for an appointment:
Tell the person you will send them a list of questions before the interview.
Tell them you will be considerate of their time and that the interview will last no more than an hour.
Tell them they can go to our site at YPNG.co and see articles and podcasts with over one hundred other YPNG Mentors from Oklahoma.
To help you prepare questions for your Mentor interview, click on the link Suggestions for Recording a Mentor Podcast to see a series of topics that will help you create a list of questions to ask your Mentor.
Send your recording and a photo of the Mentor to Administrator@YPNG.co if the recording is 25MB or less. If it is larger, e-mail us at the same address and we will give you a dropbox link that will let you send us larger audio and video files.
Your interview will be posted on our site with your name and high school in the credits.
